1. Drainage: Dahlias require soil that drains well to prevent tuber rot. If your soil is heavy clay, consider adding organic matter or planting in raised beds or containers to improve drainage. 
2. Fertility: Dahlias are heavy feeders, meaning they need a good supply of nutrients to produce abundant blooms. Incorporate well-rotted compost, manure, or leaf litter into the soil before planting. 
3. pH: The ideal pH for dahlias is slightly acidic, ranging from 6.5 to 7.0. You can test your soil’s pH using a testing kit and amend it with lime (to raise pH) or sulfur (to lower it) as needed. 
4. Organic Matter: Adding organic matter like compost, well-rotted manure, or leaf litter improves soil structure, drainage, and fertility. 
5. Location: Dahlias need at least six hours of sunlight per day, but they may benefit from some afternoon shade in hotter climates. 
6. Mulch: Mulching around dahlias with compost, straw, or other organic materials helps retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature.

Our Dahlia tubers are shipped throughout October + November once they are viable, meaning they have a visible eye or shoot. They will be sent via express post in paper bags with a storage medium.

We also store and ship all our Dahlias in Cinnamon. Cinnamon is anti-fungal, a natural fungicide and also has drying properties: so it helps heal the cuts on your tubers but it also helps prevent mold and rot. It’s organic and natural so we’re not dealing with any harmful chemicals.

We post all Dahlia orders express post with Australia Post.
